After more than 1 year of absence of international container ships, up to now, Cai Lan International Container Terminal (CICT Cai Lan) (Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province) has begun to attract container ships to dock.
Cai Lan international container port (Quang Ninh province) has just welcomed the ship Synergy Busan, nationality of the Republic of Marshall with a tonnage of nearly 51,000 tons docked at the port on September 14. This is the second trial ship of MAERSK LINE to evaluate the economic efficiency, aiming to open an international container ship through Cai Lan port in the near future.
To facilitate the port docking, the People’s Committee of Quang Ninh province has agreed with the proposal of the relevant authorities to allow the pilot implementation of measures to prevent, control and control the epidemic for two MAERSK container ships. LINE comes to make goods at CICT Cai Lan. All sailors and crew members on board are tested for antigens and are closely monitored by the authorities. The cargo handling process ensures absolutely no direct contact between crew members on board and individuals on shore. After docking, Cai Lan International Container Terminal Co., Ltd. used 3 cargo feet to unload 2,029 containers into the port and load 359 cargo containers on board.
According to Mr. Frank Van Rompaey – General Director of Cai Lan International Container Terminal Co., Ltd – shared: Previously, the company used MAERSK’s container ships to dock and they also returned. Because large ships cannot go to other ports in the area. This is an advantage that Quang Ninh should take advantage of to attract investment and create competition.
The fact that MAERSK LINE – the world’s largest container shipping company in terms of both fleet size and cargo capacity, brings ships to Cai Lan port for trial operation and cargo handling is a very positive signal. In the coming time, if it is possible to form international container shipping routes through Cai Lan port, connecting with major markets in the world, especially Europe, the US, China, Japan, Korea and ASEAN. then it will be an opportunity for Quang Ninh province to boost import and export activities, increase budget revenue and attract investment…
It is expected that at the end of September, one more container ship of MAERSK LINE will dock at the port to handle cargo.
Previously, at 13:00′ on September 9, the Cape Moss ship (Marshall nationality) with a tonnage of over 41 thousand tons safely docked at Cai Lan International Container Terminal as planned, to unload 1,215 containers at the port. and loaded onto the ship 288 containers of goods.
